Rade Kovač sent this photo “from the continent of America on October 8, 1928” to his family in Veliko Nabrđe, as it could be read on the back side of Jovan’ father American portray (next image)
Serbian-Flag Rade Kovač poslao je svojoj familiji u Veliko Nbrđe svoj portret sa američkog kontinenta 8. oktobra 1928. godine, što se može videti na poleđini ove fotografije(slika dole).

Just married couple MIlica (neé Knežević) and Rade Kovač. Both of Jovan’s parents were born and raised in Lika region, then Austro-Hungarian Empire ex Military border. They lived in a place called Lučica, until  moved to Veliko Nabrdje in 1922
Serbian-Flag Slika tek venčanih Milice i Rada Kovač. Oboje roditelja Jovana Kovača su rođeni i odrasli u Lici, bivšoj Vojnoj krajini Austro-Ugarske.Živeli su u mestu Lučica sve do 1922, kad su se odselili u Veliko Nabrđe.

Jovan’s mother Milica with the children born in Lučica – Mara, Milan and the youngest one --Jelena.The only male in this picture is Milan. He will save almost entire family from Jasenovac death camp, in Autumn of 1942, when he already had four siblings more.
Serbian-Flag Jovanova majka Milica sa decom rođenom u Lučici – Marom, Milanom i najmlađom Jelenom. Jedini muškarac na slici je Milan. On će u jesen 1942.godine spasiti skoro celu porodicu, u međuvremenu uvećanu za još četvoro dece, iz logora smrti Jasenovac.

In 1963, Jovan Kovač moved to Belgrade, and his brother Milan to Đakovo. This photograph was taken at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier, at Mount Avala, near Belgrade, when Milan -- family savior (a taller one, wearing a hat) visited Jovan at his new place. The girl on the picture is Jovan’s first child, a daughter Rada.
Serbian-Flag Godine 1963 Jovan se preselio u Beograd, a njegov brat Milan u Đakovo.Ova fotografija je snimljena ispred spomenika Neznanom junaku na Avali, pored Beograda kada je Milan -- spasilac porodice (viši, nosi šešir) posetio Jovana u njegovom novom domu. Devojčica na slici je Jovanova ćerka Rada.
